Youth, LGBTQ and You: Building allyship to make a safer, healthier internet for all
The internet is a fantastic place for children and young people to learn, explore and create, however they have often to deal with a variety of negative and challenging issues, especially for the LGBTQ young people. Although there are growing discussions on children and young people online safety from both the public and private sectors, we have seen the majority of the debates are around regulation and policy control. We asked ourselves ‘Are there missed opportunities on Design which can lead to a greater impact to the Healthy Internet?’
10 Students from MA Service Experience Design helped and facilitated a workshop with young people, children services and other LGBTQ service providers in this year Mozilla Festival. The workshop explored the role of design and impact to the internet health, from online allyship to decentralisation, the role of government and policy to personal data and privacy.
